11 Feb FAQ – Can we use a HSA or FSA card for massage therapy?
Wait, can I? The short answer is, YES!
It’s like brewing a cup of Double Happiness blooming tea from our sister store, the Bond and Bangs apothecary…
WHY?
Not only will the prescription needed from your doctor to use your HSA cash for massage actually cover the massage expense, but medical prescriptions for massage also allow you to forgo paying SALES TAX on each service! DOUBLE HAPPINESS, you see?
So what about stress reduction? “massage therapy [is] recommended by a physician to treat a specific injury or trauma, then it would qualify with a letter of medical necessity.” (source). If you have prescriptions for conditions that are covered like stress, diabetes, anxiety, arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, back pain, neck pain, hip pain…LET’S SWIPE YOUR CARD! (resource detail)
NOW WHAT?
Here’s what you need to do to get started using those HSA or FSA at TAO.
Step 1: Set up an appointment with your doctor to request a prescription for massage.
You must have an actual medical reason to get massage. Meaning “general wellness” or “relaxation” are not eligible reasons. SEE ABOVE.
Step 2: Make sure the prescription includes the required details.
For example: Therapeutic massage for neck pain [or other medical condition] 2x week for 12 weeks.
Step 3: Keep this prescription of file with your with your tax records.
Step 4: Book your appointment at Tao online or over the phone 732-775-1550!
Step 5: ENJOY these benefits early and often! 🙂 Double happiness!
Now enjoy your services even more because you have earned them, worked hard for them and now no additional expense to you….but really can we put a price on your wellness?
