WHAT DO I DO DURING A SAUNA?
What you do during your service time is up to you. Our saunas are capable to plug in your personal listening device to listen to your own music, a podcast, etc. You may also bring a magazine. Books are great too, overtime however the glue binding will deteriorate of a book due to the heat of the sauna.

WHAT IF I FEEL DIZZY OR SICK?
It is recommended to takes breaks during your sauna. You may open the door for cool air and the heat will be reduced drastically. Drink plenty of fluids, electrolytes and minerals prior to and during your service to avoid feeling associated with disorientation and dehydration. We also have panic buttons located on the outside
of each sauna if you would need immediate medical assistance.
WHY IS A SHOWER RECOMMNEDED POST SAUNA?
At Tao there are three full service showers with organic amenities included with your sauna service. While “cooling off” is recommended by sitting in the sauna for approximately 5-10mins for your body to naturally reacclimate, it is highly recommend to shower off the sweat you have just eliminated to avoid reabsorption of (toxins) sweat! An over abundance of yeast on the skin my lead to skin irritation. While yeast is a type of fungus that normally lives on the skin an imbalance and growth is more easily proliferated in hot climates, and on oily or sweaty skin. A shower very soon after your sauna is also aided by wiping down the body while sweating so you remain more dry. Start with a cool shower to help close the skin’s pores and aide with circulation.
WHAT ARE POST SAUNA RECOMMENDATIONS?
Replenish key minerals: While our sweat is mostly made of water, sweating also releases key minerals that need replenishing; magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium are important for balancing internal fluid levels, as well as regulating both muscle and nerve activity.
Following a cool shower, try a green smoothie made with dark leafy greens like kale and spinach as they are an excellent source of key vitamins and minerals — especially potassium, calcium and magnesium.
Drink plenty of electrolytes. We provide and recommend you to drink the electrolytes provided during and after your sauna. Bring your own 16oz bottle and water and use our single serve packets to dissolve in your water bottle!

HOW OFTEN IS A SAUNA RECOMMENDED?
Depending on your goals while working up to longer service length time in the sauna there are a few recommendations for sauna use for optimal results. Truth is many of us do not sweat, or sweat in general. That means your body is not used to using this amazing built in option for your body to naturally take care of itself in a healthy and safe way. In this case it may take several sauna sessions to “jump start” your sweating and eliminating process!
A sauna service is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BEFORE a skincare service to aide in suppleness of the skin.
Sauna is also HIGLY RECOMMENDED BEFORE any bodywork service as the body will be looser and more adaptable to manipulation as well as the skin being more free of creams and oils to better eliminate and avoid an environment for additional yeast growth in the skin.
Here is a guideline:
1x/week for self care or pre bodywork and skincare services
2x/week for regular maintenance/athletic performance/repair and recovery
4-5x a week for more aggressive results/weight loss
DAILY use is also safe when using the far infrared sauna
The amount of time spent in the sauna and it’s warming up process is part of the benefit. The sauna does not need to be HOT to receive the benefits of the far infrared rays.
HOW ARE THE SAUNAS SANITIZED?
TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR EACH GUEST it is recommend and available to you to SANITIZE THE SAUNA
BEFORE & AFTER USE
EPA COVID APPROVED Benefect Disinfectant DECON 30 (30 second kill time) spray and rags are available at the sauna.
Each sauna is cleaned and then sanitized post services.
